Amber Vermouth Cocktail: London Bronx - The Kubrick

Perfect Bronx Cocktail - Amber London Vermouth, Gin and orange inredients.jpg

The Bronx rose to fame in the 1920s becoming the drink of prohibition & the ‘Lost Generation’. Famously quaffed by Scott F Fitzgerald & Ernest Hemingway when romancing Zelda & Hadley respectively, it was made popular by exiled Harry Craddock at the Savoy’s American Bar in London.

With the Savoy American Bar currently closed, we created a London Bronx for those wanting to romance in 2020s using our No1 Amber Limon to balance the original recipe & avoid the complexities of mixing dry & sweet vermouth.

Ingredients

·         1 Part The London Vermouth Company No.1 Amber Limon

·         1 Part London Dry Gin

We like Little Bird made by Tim from Peckham Rye using 10 carefully selected botanicals, resulting in a well rounded, citrus-forward Gin which perfectly pairs with our Amber’s notes. Other citrus forward gins include our near neighbours Portobello Road Gin with bouncy juniper, classic coriander seed core and peppery nutmeg finish or the further afield Lone Wolf Gin from the Legends at Brewdog with its whack of lemon peel and underlying lavender tones.

·         1 Part fresh orange juice

Method

Chill your coupe glasses by filling with ice, then discard.

Shake the ingredients vigorously & strain into your coupe

Twist a sliver of orange peel to release oils, then use to garnish

*Why Kubrick? Stanley was born during prohibition in the Bronx but made his name in London like this cocktail...hopefully!
